Exeligmos - First Look at My Fury³-Inspired Game
I've been a huge fan of Fury³ ever since my uncle introduced me to it back in 1996. He got it bundled with his Microsoft SideWinder 3D Pro Joystick, and I enjoyed playing the game with it.
Months ago I listened to a cover of the Terran theme and thought it would be fun to experiment with heightmaps and try to recreate Fury³'s terrain rendering. I then added trees using 3D models I'd made myself, something I hadn't done for any of my previous 3D games, which always used sprites for entities. Shortly after finishing Network Crisis, I started working on this project seriously.
Today, roughly six months later, I'm officially revealing the first milestone of Exeligmos with a video on YouTube.
The game is being developed using C++23, SDL 3.0, OpenGL 3.3, and havCSON.
Exeligmos has changed my plans. Hovertank and Shadow Knights remain high priorities, but I'm putting my other announced projects on hold until Exeligmos is released. I may still work on other projects or try out new ideas from time to time, though.
